Overview
BlueVolt comes with a robust analytics suite. The core offering provides dashboards that give you board-ready insights into the aggregated performance of your training program.
Upgrading to the Executive level offers advanced data modeling capabilities, along with the ability to author and save your own custom dashboards.
The Developer level allows you to import data from your external business systems, and weave that data into your dashboards.
Core Dashboards
Two dashboards come pre-built in the BlueVolt analytics suite— Aggregated Performance and My Subscription. They can be accessed in the main navigation bar under Analytics > Dashboards.
Note: the My Subscription dashboard is only visible to university admins; group admins will only see the Aggregated Performance dashboard.
Aggregated Performance Dashboard
This is the workhorse dashboard that tells the big picture story of the performance of your training program. The dashboard is divided into 4 main sections:
- Rolling performance chart
- Insights panels
- ECommerce panel
- Leaderboards
Rolling Performance Chart
The rolling performance chart, shown below, overlays enrollment and completion data with eCommerce activity. You can change the date range displayed, and by opening the Layers palette you can plot additional data series for various facets of your university, like courses, groups, categories, and specific tags.
Clicking on the “change dates” button allows you to select from a list of preset date ranges, or choose a custom start and end range.
The Layers Palette lets you find and overlay performance data for specific facets of your university. Click on the Layers arrow to open the palette:
Once open, select from any number of available objects to plot and overlay the data onto your chart:
Insights Panels
The insights panels, shown directly below the rolling performance chart, gives you high level Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for both training activity and $BlueBucks usage. These KPIs include a display of the change since the previous period. For example, if your selected date range spans 3 months, the Previous Period display will compare the numbers to the previous 3 month period, ending the day before your selected start date.
eCommerce Panel
The eCommerce panel summarizes course sales in your university. This includes sales directly in your university, as well as sales to your content partners in the BlueVolt Sharing Center.
Note: the eCommerce panel will only appear for customers with eCommerce active and configured in their university. Please contact your Customer Success Manager to learn more.
Leaderboards
The Leaderboards panel gives you a bird’s eye view of the top and bottom performers in your training program. Each individual leaderboard is curated to give you specific insights into the strengths and weaknesses in your audience engagement.
My Subscription Dashboard
This dashboard, visible only to University Admins, shows your current subscription information, along with your progress toward user and enrollment limits. It helps you understand the “health” of your subscription, and helps you keep tabs on where your usage levels stand.
Crafting Data with the Table Builder
BlueVolt’s Table Builder gives you a building-block tool that empowers you to design your own data tables. You can connect related tables together, configure the rows and columns, and perform advanced functions like sorting, grouping and filtering to craft your own customized data set.
Note: The Table Builder is available in the Executive and Developer products.
To get started with the Table Builder, simply select the Table Builder tab in the Analytics suite.
Next, select a starting data set by clicking the “Select Data” dropdown menu:
A list of available tables will display. Once you’ve selected one as a starting point, the table will load its initial data in the main table window. The following data sets have been curated to get you started:

Once you’ve selected a data source, you’ll also see a list of fields that you can choose to show or hide in the table you’re building:
When you’ve finished selecting your fields, click on “Apply Column Selection” to update the table.
At this point you can also choose from tables that are available to “join” to this data set, by choosing an additional data source from the second “Select Data” menu:
Selecting a secondary data source will add columns from that table that relate to the first selected data set. For example, if you start with “Course Enrollments”, then add “User”, then user information will be added to each relevant enrollment record.
As long as there are more related tables available, you can keep joining as many data sources together as you’d like, until you have built your desired table.
Data columns from each data source will be color coded for identification. In the example below, columns from the Enrollments table have a blue stripe across the top, while columns from the Users table have a red stripe:
These columns can be rearranged by dragging them to different locations.
Further configuration options for this table can be found by clicking the gear icon next to the “Table” title. This includes various options for sorting, grouping, aggregation and pagination.
The data you’ve crafted can be downloaded as an Excel sheet, comma separated variable doc, or as a visual PDF file. Simply click the download icon and choose your format:
Filtering data tables
Your data set can be filtered by most any column in your table. After generating your initial data set, locate the Filter tab on the Table Builder to add filters.
In the example below, I’ve chosen to filter a table of course enrollments by enrollment date.
